I sheared off one of the machines screws holding the heat shield in place. I found that a stainless steel hose clamp is  a permanent and inexpensive fix.  Just run the clamp around the shield and header and tighten the clamp.  No vibration, no hassle.  At less than $1 cost it fits  perfectly with  the "redneck engineering"  culture of KLRistas worldwide. That's Tacky BUTT, Using the MULTI COLORED Plastic cover, from new boot insoles, to make a SHIELD for the kick-stand switch, when you loose yours, while riding in Moab, .........NOW THATS CLASSY!
