I just started my 1999 thumper to take a quick spin and the lights don't work. If I turn the key to the park position, the tail light and license plate light come on. The turn signals work as well as the neutral light. But no head or tail light when bike turned on and running. Any ideas? I'm thinking headlight blown, but not sure if that is on a circuit that would knock out the tail and brake light too.

Assuming KLR Thumper. Under Seat, Fuse, remove blown 10amp and insert another, I think I dropped a 15 amp in mine and it has never poped "yet" Dooden A15 Green Ape

Gents, My front and back lights are out. I took out the battery and noticed that there is a loose brown wire. Looks like it should be connected to the positive terminal but when I tried to connect to the white cable I saw a spark. I ride home without lights. Break lights work. Any ideas? David--I would just add that seeing a spark when connecting wires does not necessarily mean they are cross-connected. If the circuit has a load on it, you will see a spark when you go to make the connection. So, in your case if the lights were switched on and the brown wire was to the lights, you would see a spark, and that would be as expected.
