06 klr fork springs recommendations

Anyone have any good ideas to get the "foggy" look off the fenders??? I have tried a mild rubbung compound with no results. I have an 04 so it has the red plastics on it. As predicted by Jim Miller, it has faded to pink. My searches on eBay haven't shown an easy solution to replacing all the plastics. Is there such a source? Ideally I'd go for the military plastics if I could find them. Otherwise black or something. (At least black would fade to gray.) Surely someone has already solved this problem.

Re: [DSN_KLR650] Plastics Frank, good to see you're still in KLR-land!  How ya been? Anyway, you could try the slow heating method as previously mentioned, or buffing with metal polish. Ronayers.com most likely has bodywork in stock and at the best price, but that's probably still expensive. A lot of guys have had good luck with Krylon Fusion paint. Another option would be car bumper paint.  Any restoration method will require a fair amount of work.  If you want, we could make a deal on a complete set of '89 bodywork that I have on hand. Alternatively, I can swap that on to my "expedition bike" and offer the 2003 body that's currently on it, with or without tank in either case. Mark

Neat reading! I generally change my fork oil every time I have the wheel off the front for tire change ( at least once a year ) . Been with Progressives and Dextron ATF since first change out in late 2000. Changed fork seals 2 times on right side and 3 times on left side. Have a bit over 35,000 miles on it at present. And, In a brand new John Deere Gloss Green with the same old Olive Green tank though. LOL! For oil level , I use a brake bleeder suction device with a rod tie wrapped to the suction tube. I just clamp a set of small vise grips to the rod at the needed height and suck it till getting noting but air. ' Do the same on my '07 1250S Bandit with 70 somewhat thousand miles on it also. The right seal on the bandit just starting to leak so I'm sure it's bushing and seal time for it.

Lemon Pledge (seriously) works.....but me disliking my '99 Teal green, painted the plastic with black bedliner paint....but using Bulldog plastic prep first. If it gets a scratch....easy to touch up. I painted the tank with car paint. A black base coat with red and yellow scallops. A trick showcase KLR (heh). Makes Harley guys asks what is my weird bike (heh). Criswell Sent from my iPad

I solved this fading problem with some cans of spray paint from the local parts store. My 2000 KLR's Olive green plastics were nearer to white with a green tint. Went to Forest Green on just the plastics for about 1.5 years and last week , went to John Deere Gloss Green. Really stands out. But the Tank is still Factory Color. Of course I get ragged by my friends on 1000 buck custom painted bikes when I ride up to them on my rattle can painted bike.
