lights no work

Post by jcopel538 » Sun Sep 08, 2013 12:15 am

I have a 05 KLR with some light issues that I could use some help with.  The only lights that are working on it are high beam, dash lights, and license plate light. No low beam, tail light, or brake light.  Fuses under the seat are good swapped them around and tested them in both sides. Bike runs great. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

High beam and no low beam? Bulb maybe. Tail light / brake light could be ground or bulb. Replace the fuses with new. Sometimes you can't tell if they are bad unless you meter them, and even then sometimes they can be intermittent under load (not common). Check power to sockets and contacts. Might be the main switch. Disassemble to check. Robert Wichert P.Eng. LEED AP BD&C +1 916 966 9060 FAX +1 916 966 9068 ===============================================

Been having trouble replying to posts on the web page as only the replay to that person works. Very slow dial-up, everything does not always load.  The Digest ver. I can make work. :-)

Thanks for the information on where to check. Jeff you make it sound easy. A good understanding of how things work does simplify things.  Will check the bike over today. Road it yesterday, we had planed the trip for many weeks.

I want to thank everyone on the DSN forum. I seldom post but  this group has helped me with many isues. Joined Sunday, October 29, 2006 4:48 PM.  Posts 4-5.

can oil get stuck in engine ?

Post by E Hines » Mon Sep 09, 2013 9:03 pm

Check it again after running.  You will need more oil once the filter area fills up.   2.5 quarts with oil filter change. :) From: chris kelly To: "DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com" DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Saturday, September 7, 2013 3:35 AM Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Can oil get stuck in engine ?   Sight glass was full, drained pan but only 1/2 a quart came out. Replaced filter and engine only needed 1 and 1/2 quarts to fill it up.  Bike is an 04 with 33,000 miles, doohickey done and last year replaced the balancer shaft.  Thoughts on this ??? you may think you can, & you make think you can't... and you're right!!
