klr for sale

Post by Murray Dochstader » Thu Jun 24, 2004 9:39 pm

Wellllllll!: I did it! I ordered a new XR 650 R today! I am tired of riding my bag off to keep my KTM LC4 riding friends in sight. So - if anyone has contemplated building a really-good-but-not-fast-enough KLR off-roader, give mine a thought. I have spent countless hours, and about equal amount of money on my '99 to try to make it into a competitive Baja-style off roader, but I know when I am whipped - it can't be done with a privateer's resources and budget. As a result, I offer for sale @ $3,000.00 (Can.) a really good off-road, street legal '99 KLR 650, located in south central British Columbia. Please e-mail me directly to get the specifics. The bike runs perfectly, is in perfect condition, but, it simply cannot compete with the purpose-specific bikes like the Honda or the KTM. I won't part with my '97 road-going one though, for anything! Murray Dochstader Kamloops, B.C. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

It's a 2004 with 2400 miles on it. It's equipped with Pelican cases on Happy Trails Pannier Racks. You can see it in the "Photos" section of this site under "Pelican's on A18". It also comes with a set of new unmounted Kendas and some slightly faded but nearly new Chase&Harper soft bags. I'll take $4400.00 and you pick it up on the FL panhandle. It's a great bike but I'm trying to get out of debt. We'll have to get the title from Kawasaki credit. Mark Lewis Mary Esther,FL

klr for sale

Hey everyone-- I need to sell my KLR because of some financial obligations. I have been putting it off, but I can't find a way around it. It's a 2001 I just bought in May (the 14th to be sure) and it had 690 miles on it. It's in PA and I will get it inspected for the new owner free if they are from this state. I have only put about 2070 miles more (2780)? since May and I have upgraded in most areas, including: centerstand Progressive fork springs w/ spacers fork brace self locking nuts all over new grips and heavy bar ends w/ leadshot in the bars Iridium plug (these are about 9.00!) New battery new tires Bridgestone TW's 19 & 22 --have about 400 miles on them (perfectly balanced) SS lines--all new fluid (great brakes now) HD clutch springs (not installed) extra oil filters (2) and oil just changed and has been every 1000 miles magnetic drain plug (extra washer) security billet oil filler cap w/ wrench cycle-analyst turnsignal mod (lights off, flash to pass) 15 amp fuse in headlight circuit tank bag (large magnetic--it's the only *luggage* I have for it) already did the air screw turn 2 1/2- pulls strong and runs great bike is clean everywhere (some scratches in the plastic, have to look hard to see.) Bike does not have the *tweet* and no headshake or anything out of the ordinary. I am also including all the original parts and fasteners I took off. I saved everything. I have put about 450.00 into it over what I paid for it. I need 3500.00 for it. I have more than that in it. No issues. You will love this bike. You would not need to do anything to this bike other than enjoy it and ride it. I may have forgotten a few things.... Any questions, off list please. Bike is located in Pittsburgh Pa. I cannot ship it, but I can deliver it on my cycle trailer up to 350 miles one way for 70 cents a mile loaded. I have a clean title in hand. Cash only. No test pilots but if you insist, if you lay it down, you just bought it. Thank you. Jim

If your looking for a KLR for sale, there's one in Arcata, California. Acerbis handguards, hot grips, serrated foot pegs, skid plate, supertrapp, progressive front springs, and a few other mods. If interested, call Dave at (707) 822-9274. Oh, it's a Ken and Barbie special, 1995, 34,000 miles.

Greetings! I am considering selling my KLR and wanted to give you guys the first look since this is the best KLR board on the planet... I also wanted to see if you guys think $2200 is a fair asking price. I've posted a pic in 'photos' titled 'AAA KLR for sale'. Here's the skinny: '87 KLR with ***10k original miles***. Eagle doohickey and spring. (Thanks Mike!) Bone stock, starts with ease and runs FLAWLESSLY. (recent carb rebuild) '02 or '03 tank (can't remember)...original tank had developed a leak. Exhaust is quiet, and NO TWEETY. Arizona bike, so no rust. New fork seals and dust boots. Acerbis fairing (the factory one was not damaged in a 'whoops' or anything, I just didn't like the look...) Mini front signals. LED tail light. Rear tire doesn't have much tread left, but there is no cracking or other damage. Front tire is very good. New stock seat. Recent brake pads. One of the ears on the rack is broken. This bike is VERY mechanically sound; I wouldn't hesitate to take it for a thousand mile trip AS IT SITS. The plastic has been rattle-canned to match the tank. I'm looking for a buyer or at least some feedback. If you aren't interested but have an opinion on the price, please let me know. Thanks! ~Eric AZ

Eric, your bike is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it...that's the bottom line. I bought my 87 about 9 months ago with less than 5k miles on it for $2k. And it was a garage queen - NO damage, NO plastic fading, ALL original in "near showroom condition". It needed new tires, petcock rebuild and two or three missing fasteners. One of the seat bolts was snapped off, so I had to easy-out it and install new bolt. I also installed a K&N filter because the original foam element was disintegrating from age. I replaced the doohickey and spring, and changed the oil/filter and coolant. So, I've probably got about $2400 in mine (total) and it's like a NEW 87... With that said, I believe $2200 may be a bit steep for yours, but like I said, it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm sure there are those who think $2k was too much to give for mine. Best of luck! Regards, Scott Eric wrote: Greetings! I am considering selling my KLR and wanted to give you guys the first look since this is the best KLR board on the planet...
