I have been drinking ALOT of coffee the last few days, (Thanks to John B.) and jumped on the DOO Hickey.
(being I should be heading out on 2 more good size trips in the next few weeks.)
The factory one was perfect, (31,000) but the spring looked like it was DONE pulling in.
Not worn just all the way in.
AND even with the spring off, and the adjustment bolt out, It WAS STUCK IN PLACE.
So it was doing NOTHING, Not broken, but doing NOTHING. (spring in and stuck)
So it was a good thing I changed it out.
I think, I feel & hear less vibration, Should that be?
PS.
For those that want stock, I have a tried and true, WELL TESTED, HIGHLY EXPERIANCE Doo Hickey for sale.

doo done and? how often??!!!!
Good question.
I thought, only once, but then read the Eagle-mike instructions and it said, better to drill 2 (TWO) holes, for future adjustment.
But with your question it leaves me thinking, you do not KNOW about the DOO.
The Doo hickey is the WEAK LINK in the other wise GREAT KLR.
The Original stock was known for cracking, (BREAKING) and possibly causing BIG engine damage. Newer factory stock Doo's are supposed to be better then original.
But????
Even thou my Stock one was "perfectly fine", the spring was DONE pulling (COMPLETELY compressed and) and the Doo was STUCK IN PLACE. I had to use a screwdriver to pry it slightly, and heard a little snap, as it released. (stuck in the arch area.)
SO I would say, ALL Doo's should be ATLEAST checked, INCLUDING NEWER KLR's.

Better yet, think of it as jewelry. Put it on a cord and wear it around your neck. A great conversation starter at cocktail parties.
