t-mod caution!

Just changed the oil and noticed. The ADDED Hose, from the T. that goes up under, the seat, was twisted & KINTED. As it went up under the Breather neck (Air box to carb.) the hose must have been a little twisted and being there a while, the tension FULLY KINKED IT. (Being a softer "rubber/silicone") I pulled it back & forth a few times turning it to get it right, I Just wanted others to know, That it could happen to Yours, so you can watch for it. Both my headlight and tail light are out on my 1997 KLR 650. I have looked at the wiring diagram to find what they both have in common but I can't see it. The high beam light on the instruments is also out. There are no blown fuses. The brake light and turn signals work. Anybody have any ideas? Sent from Yahoo! Update: all the lights are out, including the instruments. But, when I turn the ignition switch to the park position (push key in, and turn all the way to the left while the bars are turned all the way to the left) the tail light and license plate light come on like they're supposed to. It is a 99% chance the headlight fuse is bad. You cannot always tell a blown fuse visually as they sometimes break at the end. The headlight, tail light, and dash lights are all on that 10 amp fuse. The key. switch is functioning as designed. When in park position power is supplied to the tail light only through the main fuse. Use a new or known good fuse checked with a meter or test light. That should solve the problem. Walt

Just to clarify in the above "tail light" should be understood to be the tail light circuit which includes the running light portion of the tail lamp and the license plate lamp. It does not include the brake light portion of the lamp or the turn signals. Those are powered off the main fuse. Walt
