Today we rode the White Rim Trail, about 135 miles of fun. Two of the three KLRs decided that they had enough fun for the time being and laid down for a brief nap. One sleepyhead KLR took 5 or 6 dirt naps, most in sand washes with axle deep fine sand in the optimal line and knee-deep sand in the suboptimal lines traveled. That rider has declared tomorrow R&R and Laundry Day. Perhaps the OEM hand guard will also be mended. Mark Ward joined us from Michigan. Mark took out a Jersey Barrier-sized tumbleweed that clenched the bike so firmly that it took two of us to wrestle the bike out. But Mark emerged with even his sense of humor intact. The 3rd KLR made it through the entire day without a nap as did the lighter DRZ. The DRZ rode sweep and was so dust covered that it looked like it had not only gone down but decided to roll around in the sand for camouflage. I don't miss the sand there (heh). Your description has convinced me I need a lighter bike for sand naps. If you ride up into the La Sals try and make it over to Gateway Col for a nice ride and car museum. Criswell Sent from my iPad
