Wolfman offers a plain paper map case for those who print their own maps on standard 8.5x11' sheets. Not sure if you can specify it when you buy, or have to purchase as an accessory. My only complaint about the Explorer is that I'm tempted to put too much stuff into it. Did anyone see this piece: http://www.motorcycle- usa.com/Article_Page.aspx?ArticleID=5551&Page=1 ? I think you mean this link... http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Article_P ... 551&Page=2 It's a very good description and what I'd recommend. Just one of many great AK alternatives to PB. In fact, off the moto, I paddled a kayak from Valdez to Whittier and then took the ferry back to Valdez. I highly recommend this ferry especially if you want to go on to Seward. Camp in Valdez at the Bear Paw and say hello to old fella that guides RVs into the RV lot. The Prospector is a good place in Valdez to get any camping gear, too. Amazing trip and visit to the Valdez area 100x better than my PB visit. Even the drive into Valdez is exciting. Highly recommended. --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "Arden Kysely" wrote:

tank bags

I would stick with Wolfman or Marsee Tank bags. The Kawasaki Tank Bag sucks and the plastic things on the end of the straps that hold it to the tank broke on my first major trip: ESR 2 or was it ESR3? And I didn't even dump it although a rock attacked my rear braking system. After the short lived Kawasaki Tank Bag, I got a slightly used Wolfman that held up well. I couldn't find a decent price on a new Wolfman so I got a Marsee which looks and feels very rugged. On certain things it is worth skimping on; but, not on Tank Bags. I prefer the magnetic versions. I run a strap around the crossbar of my handle bars to make sure it cannot come off. And it is easily moved or flipped out of the way for gas. Jeffrey

Speaking of which, I continue to search without success for a magnetic bag for my IMS tank. Anyone?

Perhaps if you do, I will then share with you (=the list) on Julian date 9091, where I have discovered a 'singular-source' of aluminum magnets that are so difficult to find--and usually for sale, (un) fortunately, just that one day a year. revmaaatin. note: 9091 as used by the US govt Julian calenders

tank bags

I have a 2003 KLR in the USA and a 2008 in Europe. I'd like to get a tank bag that will fit both. Not too big, just big enough for a clear map pocket on top, and pockets to fit a snack, water bottle, bandana, and sunglasses. Maybe a small GPS and some odds and ends. The clear map pocket is the main thing I really want. No worries if I have to take it off to fuel. I'll only fuel once a day most times, and if I do it twice I'll want the break anyway. Anyone have suggestions for a tank bag that will work with the old and new generation KLRs, easy on and off, and won't get in the way of my legs too much? Thanks, Bryan

Does the Wolfman enduro bag have a clear map window? I forget. There's no reason is shouldn't work on both bikes. The KTM bag for the 640E is a very nice bag that should work too.

My wolfman does have a clear window. I believe it will work on both. Very well made. Criswell Sent from my iPhone

You won't go wrong with Wolfman. I depend on tank bags and have used several brands. Wolfman makes the best.
