Thanks for the tips Jim. Since I had to cut off my gel grips, I made
a small pad with a piece of the grip. Took it out for a 50+ mile
ride in the hills today. I must say I am pleased!
In case the group in unfamiliar with this set up: It come as a kit.
The Mikuni 38mm carb, throttle handle assembly and throttle cable.
(about $215.00) Also get extra jets for tuning.
So right away you eliminate two cables. One throttle cable and the
choke is a plunger on the carb. Fred said they make a cable for it
but I'm fine with the plunger.
First thing you notice is the immediate response when you twist the
grip. Something that some riders may not like is the fact that it
goes the same when you back off the throttle. Immediate engine
braking. For those who mainly ride the street, it may not be as
smooth a decelleration as the CV carb. Since I'm mainly 90% trail, I
like better as it reacts more like a dirt bike.
