http://www.kawasaki.com.au/motorcycles/offroad/stockman The 2 side stands used simultaneously won't serve as a center stand, since each one requires that the bike lean towards that stand. You could put blocks under each one and it would likely lift the rear wheel off of the ground. Mike

Myself for chain adjustments and such I normally add something under the kickstand, chunk of 2x4 or whatever and tilt the bike so the rear tire gets some air and stick a hammer handle under the opposite side tip of the swingarm, also handy for WD-40 baths to the chain... gets kinda wet at front sprocket area, but lubes the kickstand pivot. Now front tire is a different monster. Dooden A15 Green Ape

That's not a bad looking bike. I love the utility of it, with the huge rear rack and the cool headlight rack. Would be great for exploring with. Even comes with crash bars and metal bark busters. Why is it that I like all the bikes that we don't get over here? Ryan Phoenix, AZ Mike Frey wrote:

I have the "non identical" twin to the Stockman: The Super Sherpa, which was sold in the USA in 1999-2003 then again in 2009. Like the KLR, all models are identical other than color. The Sherpa top speed is about 80 mph. It easily holds a steady 65 mph, although (it doesn't have a tachometer) that's about 7000 RPM. I think the Stockman has lower gearing (sprockets) so it wouldn't go as fast. These bikes are bulletproof - as I've heard of some Hondas "reliable as an anvil". They also have the smoothest shifting transmission of any Kawasaki I've ever had. In riding situations where the KLR gets 55 mpg, the Sherpa gets about 70 mpg. I had one tank, all highway miles, return 90 mpg. I had heard from other owners who claimed the same thing but didn't believe it until I saw it for myself. Mike

UPDATE: We have only 5 kits remaining. Green is sold out. However, we have one other green one from when Evy was first learning to use the drill press. It has two burner holes spaced noticeably closer together than the others. We didn't intend to sell it, but if someone is set on green, we'll make it available. It is otherwise 100% presentable and functional. More details on the kits below. Thanks for lookin'! Mark The price is $25 per kit which includes postage in the US ($30 to Canada). PayPal funds to evy (at) vanhornwhitewater (dot) com Or, if you'd like to pay by cheque/MO, send us an email for our mailing address. Pics can be seen at http://s227.beta.photobucket.com/user/RandomTask_EHE/media/DSCF2065.jpg.html>http://s227.beta.photobucket.com/user/RandomTask_EHE/media/DSCF2065.jpg.html > http://s227.beta.photobucket.com/user/RandomTask_EHE/media/4Stoves.jpg.html>http://s227.beta.photobucket.com/user/RandomTask_EHE/media/4Stoves.jpg.html> Here are links to 3 demo videos: #1 "Kitchen Test": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1ddTbkcxPA>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1ddTbkcxPA> #2:"Outdoor Soup": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbtprADPkFo>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbtprADPkFo> #3:"Winter Morning Oatmeal": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvUiADrmZ_w>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvUiADrmZ_w> The kit includes: Stove (available in 4 colors- red, blue, green and pewter) Durable 4oz fuel bottle with child-proof cap Sturdy, mill-finished aluminum wind screen Cold-weather performance kit: kevlar priming wick, reflective heavy (1.7 mils) foil square and insulating ceramic stove base 3mm neoprene drawstring carry pouch with belt-loop & hook, and enough room for additional accessories (matches, drinking cup, small cooking vessel, etc) User's manual Note: Because they are made by hand, you may experience slight cosmetic variations from kit to kit. However, all kits function 100% and will provide years of productive use. Why? My 15 year old daughter Evy, is a Whitewater Slalom Kayaker and member of the 2012 US Junior Team. She also earned the bronze medal at this year's US National Championships race, sharing the podium with this year's US Olympic Team member and a US Senior Team member. As a fund raiser to cover her travel expenses for the upcoming 2013 season, we crafted limited run of lightweight camp stove kits, with stoves manufactured from 25oz aluminum water bottles. While this technology is not new, we have done much R&D to create a lightweight, durable stove with known performance characteristics in a variety of operating conditions. I had a Super Sherpa, an 01 with the gold colored anodized wheels. I second the mpg, reliability. Suspension wimpy for trails. Amazing variety of OEM farkle available for it in Japan. Factory fishing rod holder is one example. Also lots of aftermarket support from Beet Japan , cams, big bore cylinder/piston kits, oil coolers etc. I ordered a OEM rear rack from my local dealer (RIP, Waldron Kawasaki) using the part number I found on a Japanese-language Kawasaki.ja web site. Took a month to get but was cheaper and much nicer than aftermarket . Also bike was a wheelie machine, super easy to ride a block long wheelie (no, not me). It was too small of a cockpit for me at 6-3 but my daughter in DEN is seeking one now. I do miss it, the fit-n-finish are MUCH superior to the KLRs. -----Original Message----- From: "Desert Datsuns" Sent: 1/ 18/ 2013 10:39 To: "DSN KLR650" dsn_klr650@yahoogroups.com> Subject: Re: [DSN_KLR650] Re: front fork adjustment and wheel alignment gen 1 Yeh, it's probably awesome for trails.
