The only ones that are absolutely necessary and go beyond personal preference are: Installing a T fitting into the carburetor vent hose. This prevents stalling in rain and water; it may also help prevent other carb problems. You must defeat both safety switches, the one for the kickstand and also the clutch; they will fail. My server doesn't seem to allow me to access the archives. Hopefully some other lister will post the sites that give the instructions for these simple mods. Learning the proper way to adjust the balancer system is not a mod but is also a must. Hi Bogdan - I am completely stumped about what the t-fitting is for but it sounds important enough that I should do it. Please tell me more about why and how - is one leg of the tee left uncovered? Thanks Jim> > Bogdan

Why was that? I just posted an address for SW moto tire, most of his business is internet, same tire and service as if I walked in the door. You can probably get a bad tire over the net but you can get a bad one that has been laying around the shop for three years to. At list SW Moto turns through his inventory fast. Not quite as fussy as buying a helmet over the net. (I've bought three that way) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? What's the collective opinion on these two models? I am going with
one of them for a trip later next month, but can't tell which will
work better with my 2002 KLR650. Any firsthand info would be
appreciated.

Sam I was in the mountains this week-end also. I was around Quaken Aspen and
Ponderosa snow still on side of the road. A deer jumped in front of me at
Pine Flat and I saw another about 10 miles down the road. I am glad you made
it back. These bikes seem to take a lot of abuse and still run . Good Luck

Yup, there are a couple of ways.
1. Put it in first, squeeze in on the lever, and contantly rock fore and aft,
impacting the drive train in each direction.
If that fails....
2. Assuming the bike will run, get in an open area, start the engine, run
along
the bike to get it rolling, jump on the seat, kick it down into first, then
ride around with the lever squeezed in, on and off the throttle to, once
again,
jerk the drive. Once things warm up the clutch will break free.
I have used both methods when bikes would come into the shop in a similar
condition. One, or the other, would work.
