I have the Kisan headlight modulator on my KLR650 A12. It works wonders. I
turn it on by hitting the high-beam switch during daylight. I use it when I
am coming up on intersections where a cell-phone-using mini-van driver
appears to be about to make a left turn across my path. When I light up the
modulator the would-be left-turners slam on their brakes.
It is not a silver bullet (nothing is). It does work and it does very
substantially increase the odds in my favor.

I put one on my Strom a few months back, and I think it helps
significantly. Other drivers seem to notice and watch me more than
before.
I do turn it off when I'm right behind another vehicle at a stop
light.

Pat: Maybe that headlight modulator gets the cagers thinking you are
the police? Hay, whatever works. Pete

I'm wanting to buy the right headlight modulator for my KLR. Does anyone use one? What's best?
Thanks.

www.kisantech.com/ 115W pathblazer is what I use and love it ,
especially while splitting lanes, and to see people yielding to your
KLR.
tight clearance between the light socket and handlebars for the plug
and play package for the KLR, but Kisan may have improved the
package, as they seem to be very good at continually improving the
product. I wouldn't use one in some parts of the world, as it may
have different meanings to the locals there, then what people here
interept it as.

Hello,
I'm a newbie here and a newbie to dual sporting, as I currently ride
a BMW R1150RT and will be soon adding a KLR650A15 to the stable.
It's great to have a resource such as this! Thank you.
Is it possible to install one of KisanTech's
www.kisantech.com plug
and play headlight modulator, as I will be using the KLR for
commuting.
What other headlight lighting options are available for the KLR?
Thanks,
Rick

Kisan modulator works well with the KLR650. I've been using one for
over 4 years.

I just swapped out my old, broken Kriss unit for a new Kisan modulator. Its
working great. Much, much smaller than the old Kriss unit and I hope it will
prove to be more reliable - since '99 I've gone through two Kriss units, both
locked up, failing to go into fail-safe mode.

I have been running a Kisan on my A16 since last April. The only issue that
I have seen is that it spontaneously switches occasionally to the low
sensitivity mode. When it is in this low mode it thinks it is nightime and
stops modulating. You can tell this is the problem since if you hit the
daylight sensor with a bright light (flashlight ) the modulation begins.
I switch back to high sensitivity ( key in run position, bike off, switch
high beam on-off-on) and I'm good for another couple of thousand miles.
Switching to low has happened enough times that I make a habit of placing my
hand in front of the light just before each ride so I can see if the light
is modulating.
Cagers really notice the modulation. I have had people stop me to tell me
that "Your dammed headlight if flashing!".
