I have the Givis, and I can vouch that they work. My brother knocked mine over in the driveway, *slam!* on the concrete. Not a bit of damage to plastics or the radiator reservoir, and a couple of spritzes of spray paint fixed the scratches on the bars. It would be one of my first upgrades. The downside is that they increase felt vibration a little, but I hardly notice it anymore. -Jeff Khoury

If your bike were older, I could give you my stock answer, which goes: The IMS tank gives radiator protection plus an extra gallon or more of gas, for less than the price of a set of PD Nerfs. Since you have a newer bike, I dunno what to tell you. Buy the tank and scrap the fairing?

Yeah but those IMS tanks are butt ugly especially the white ones after a few trips to Moab with the red dirt. My KLR is a show bike with its custom black, red and and yellow tank with bedliner plastic. And.....I don't know if I want to pick up my KLR with an extra gallon of gas. Mark I didn't get your email it must have been shot over to spam, some KLR mail goes there and I do not check spam very well, just a glance b4 mass delete, I've got my do stuff but haven't done the do yet, my lift is ready and so am I.
