starter button/kill switch

The screen in front of the Radiator on my new klr 650 came loose and is brushing against the fender.The more I looked at it the lamer the screen looked.No problem wire ties held it back in place,but are there any replacements that will protect the radiator better than the small mesh screen?

I'm sure there are a bunch of us with this problem. As soon as it gets bent, you can never really get it back again - then out come the zip ties and Leatherman. There has got to be a ready market for a better version of this - I think Juan posted a pic of one a friend of his had made in Mex. Anyone else got the means to fab these? Krokko? Rich: The current screen is just a piece of expanded metal with a little more done to it. Expanded metal  can be purchased in sheets with openings of different sizes. It is easy to shear (cut) it to size if you have the right equipment. Maybe Tim Bernard might be interested in buying a 4 x 12 foot sheet and cutting it to the right size for us? Thanks. Bob Kaub

Could Tim modify his existing guards, or is that what you are referring to? I think this would make a great feature. Don Detloff Fair Haven, MI A14

Does anybody have a spare screen that bolts in front of the radiator? I lost mine on a trip and need another one. Kaw wants big bucks! gbihimer@...

My radiator screen has decided to become the enemy. It has gotten swept by the fender into a bent mess, put back on by me although it doesn't fit right now. Should I just by a new stock one, bend this one back into submission, or buy aftermarket. Fred, I'm all ears. -- Robert Wichert P.Eng. I'm with Mark, expanded metal. It cuts easily with tin snips, and you can use the rest of the roll to keep your dog from jumping through screen doors. Spray it International Safety Black (Rustoleum Satin Black) to give it that urban warrior look, like we did with My son's CX500.
