Hey guys first post for me.Got my 2006 klr650 oct 1,and after 2600 miles had to replace my stok rear tire. I got a kenda k270.I like it ok but I really want a knobbie tire. I ride to work on the bike daily,but I also ride dirt almost daily and I want it to be able to pull and dig offroad. So the question is does any one ride like I do and use a knobbie tire and if so what kind of tire milage do you get and can I get near 2600 miles to any knobbie that any one knowes of .And yes I know a knobbie will suck on the road but does anyone run a knobbie and how do you like it.

Front: Kings KT-9662 or any hard-condition 80/100-21 or 90/90-21 MX/Enduro knobby from Dunlop/IRC, et all. Rear: Cheng Shin C755 in 5.30-17. Keep it inflated on the pavement and you'll get 5k miles, though the good dirt traction won't hold up nearly that long. Be very careful selecting an off-road tire for street use. Some are down right dangerous. The Kenda Trackmaster II for example, slick as snot on wet pavement in the rain. The K270's are good tires, let them wear in some before you remove them for full on knobbies. If you want something more aggressive and you still want some control on the street, try out a set of Dunlop D606's --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, " " wrote:

I too am a big fan of the D606's. Very aggressive in the dirt and OK on the road. (I also ride to work every day while it is warm) They are a bit loud above 50 mph but that's not a big deal for me. For those who do not get the Mag. "motorcycle consumer News" They show a tool that Trims rounded Knobbies by heat, (Lrg. soilder iron with knife) just slice way the rounded side for sharp grabbing edges. ($65.) to extend the dirt life of a tire. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
