Well it happened last night.... Some MF stole my KLR. So for all of you in and around NYC be careful, they are stealing KLRs again. They will cut down the street signs to steal them, because they can't break Cryptonite chains and locks. I hope the MF who stole mine breaks his spine on it. Sorry to hear you lost your bike! That is just wrong! I have a curiosity question, how was it locked up? In the past when needed, I have used a bicycle lock through the front tire and disc brake rotor, you know those U shaped locks. One has to be mindful of it of course or you could try to take off with it in place! Unless they loaded it up in a pick-up, it would nearly impossible, or at least extremely difficult to ride off with your bike. I am so sorry to hear that your bike was stolen. I had a motorcycle stolen. I know the pain you are going through. It never goes away, but does lessen slightly as the years pass. The best thing is to get a replacement if you can afford to. Did you have insurance on it? Please post both the frame (VIN) and engine serial numbers here on this list so that if one of the 1500 list members sees it they can call the cops (after beating the crap out of the guy). There are also several stolen bike registries on the internet, I strongly recommend that you post both of these numbers at each of them and post to the usenet list rec.motorcycles and any similar lists. I didn't follow up with my bike as I could have and I regret it now, years later. We should make life for thieves as difficult as we can. Gerret A15

Thank you all for offering to help, the bike was "loaded"; progresive springs, forkbrace, ss brakelines, green galfer pads, pirelli mt90 tires, black acerbis hand guards, center stand. There was a givi top rack for my givi top case which is sitting on my floor(thank god for that), most of the bike was in the mint condition except for some scratches on the back plastic from the saddle bags. It also had that kawi saddlebag support thingy. If you look on the back fender you will see a small whole which I drilled to push the wires to connect the topcase brake light. Also the the seat head pirelli logo embeded into it from me carying tires to a shop. Muffler is stock but missing the head from (last/first) screw used for carbon cleaning. Ah yes it had also a realy loud horn on the bike. Also there was discoloration next to the speedo from my clock and the handle bar is a bit scratcjed from my keys....... And yes I am waiting to see what will the insurance company do for me.... Damn I guess I spent to much time on my bike when I know every inch of it inside out... thanks fil
