Happy 2012! I have a feeling it is going to be a great year.
I have a quick question concerning the top/rear motor mount on my 2001 KLR 650. Can the nut on the 8x42 fastener that passes through the engine be a standard one with a washer, or is the factory nut/plate unit required? I discovered this fastener (bolt and nut) missing on this recently purchased vehicle. Any other tips on replacing it would be appreciated as I need to replace it today,

Hey JWF -- I treated myself to a Christmas present and bought a set of
these LEDs -- amber with black housing and a post. Have been happy so
far.

<><><><><> <><><><><> I'll guess there is no problem using a washer and nut. The stock configuration just makes it easier to tighten since you only need to turn the bolt and the nut part will hold itself in place. David, don't know if oem is required but a good grade nut would be better
than none until you know. Some Loctite (not the nuclear grade) would be good
on every fastener on the bike.
Good riding
