speaking of removing the seat and side panels

Has anybody tried to sort out a quick release for the side panels or seat? Seems to me it would be convienient to have them be released more quickly. Maybe even without tools. Looks like the seat could easily be converted to quick release pins like the push button t-pins used on military aircraft. Not sure how to do the side panels though

Side panels: Comon spring loaded T pins.

I Drilled a 1/2 inch hole in the side panels to access the seat bolts to not have to remove them to take off the seat. In a message dated 12/1/2011 9:04:29 A.M. <><><><><><> <><><><><><> Chris, Some folks just don't put the bolts in the seat mounts. Then the seat is a lift off set up. Works fine until you trailer the bike and the seat flies away. Some other folks drill holes in the side panels so they can access the seat mount bolts with a socket and extension. I just remove the side panels as it only takes about a minute and gives access to lots of hidden bike parts that are worthy of inspection every now and then. The big question, why do you need quick access so often? Fuses? Some move the fuses for easyer access, like behind the R. front panel, then hinge it. I know on trips when a fuse blows and the bike is LOADED with camping etc. gear you have to unload the bike just to take the seat off. So My fuses are going up front.

I suppose you "could" drill holes and then use ball-lock fasteners. Seems like a lot of work to save not much effort though. Like, how much time did I spend typing this and thinking about it? I could have the seat off using an Allen wrench by now! LOL at this: Some folks just don't put the bolts in the seat mounts. Then the seat is a lift off set up.
