missing bolts.

Post by skypilot110 » Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:35 am

After the Roaming Rally I have found a few bolts missing. More important is the sub frame bolt that I sheared off on the left. It was a rough ride in some places and the bikes were really loaded since you needed all your camp gear, tools, food, water... Has anybody done the sub frame bolt upgrade on an 08+? Did you use a kit or just bolts from hardware store and how did it go

I used Iron Mike's subframe upgrade bolts. You have to drill the upper bolt hole through the frame. This makes for a stronger connection and also makes it easier to remove, if you shear the bolt. Sent from my iPad

I think the we had this discussion years ago, I know Jake (RIP) sent me upgraded bolts to replace the KCO bolts (KHI Compressed Oatmeal) and the moral of the story was make sure what you got in there is tight and Red Loc-Tighted. Mine been there for years. No drill throughs. Sure if something is snapped and unable to get old bolt out sure. K.I.S.S. rule applies methinks. Dooden A15 Green Ape

Well, there you go again. Applying science and engineering to a cult item previously shrouded in mystery. What are we ever to do with you? revmaaatin. oh, and I learned something. Thanks.
