thinking of coming back from the dark side...

Post by Vik Banerjee » Wed May 18, 2011 7:50 pm

I haven't owned a KLR650 for a number of years, but I've been thinking lately that I should get a new one. A visit to a Kawi dealer didn't help - nor did seeing at least 1 KLR/day the last week or so! I was wondering if someone could measure the width of the bars on a current generation bike? I need to figure out if I can get it into my backyard through a narrow walkway so I can keep it safe when not in use. Here is some proof from back in my KLR days to show that I am worthy or group membership...=-)~ http://www.flickr.com/photos/vikapproved/sets/72157604008658342/ Thanks! Welcome back Vic. Some of us old timers are still here. You may take the rider from the KLR but you can never take the KLR from the rider.... It only takes one minute to remove the handlebars. Look into the tachometer You can do it. You know you can. Look into the tachometer You know you want it. You know you need it. Look into the tachometer Go now. Don't wait. Go now. Don't wait. Robert P. Wichert P.Eng LEED AP +1 916 966 9060 FAX +1 916 966 9068 ===============================================

Removing the bars every time you ride is not practical.... notch the gate instead ;-)

It's not just a gate or I'd do that. If someone can tell me how wide the bars are on the current generation KLR650 I can see if I have a problem and if so how much of one. safe riding, Vik Banerjee threeohm@... www.thelazyrando.com

Welcome back Vik. I don't know the measurement you are looking for but keep in mind that unless the gate is up against a wall on both sides you can get through with bars that are a few inches wider than the opening by approaching at a slight angle then tilt the bike and turn the bars to get one end past the opening. Roll forward and tilt the bike and turn the bars again to get the other end past the opening.
