Most octane boosters are pretty nasty stuff, toxic, messy to carry, and expensive, too. I don't know why you'd even consider messing with them on a KLR, which under most conditions will run on regular, and if it won't, will certainly be fine on any premium pump gas. I like to run an octane booster when I can't get race gas on 100 avgas for my '78 LeMans, but it's really a pain to deal with.

I haven't notice much of a problem withn My A12, but a bubby of mine gets a lots of pinging out his 1984 GS-850L. We were wondering whether to start using better gas or use the small boottles of the the octane boosters availible. Thanks, Dave A12 cuf_oohay_666 wrote:same here in california. Richard's rims were dented because he was running less than 20 psi in his tires on a rocky jeep trail. I'm not so skilled of a rider, and I managed to stay upright and undamaged all weekend. Mark's smart enough and considerate enough to split up the group when necessary to provide appropriate riding for all. No need to let Zack, Devon and Tumu's heroics scare you off. Jay in PA A15

Richard was running 18 psi in his tires on a rocky jeep trail. That's how his rims got dents. I'm not a very skilled rider and I managed to stay upright and undamaged both days. Mark's smart enough and considerate enough to split up the group when necessary to provide appropriate riding for all. No need to be scared off by Zack, Devon & Tumu's heroic efforts! Jay in PA A15

I need some advise! Set the mixture screw at 2 turns, runs@ 1500 rpms, but dies when choke is is turned off or throttle is opened at all. Dirt or Diapharm ? How do you check the diaphram ? Thanks in advance of any help. Tom R.S.M. CA. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free, easy-to-use web site design software http://sitebuilder.yahoo.com

Is this a stock carb? did it run ok before you turned the mixture screw out 2 turns? Could be a vacuum leak. to check the diaphram you need to remove the plastic cap at the top of the carb. 4 screws. makes sure you have some time to mess with it. it may take several hours and a few 4 letter words your first time trying to reinstall it

I just bought a 1995 KLR 650 and discovered (after buying it!) that the carb seems to be overflowing with gas. I suspect the float valve isn't seating. Anyone have similar problems? Any words of advice/wisdom would be appreciated. Paul

I noticed while wrenching yesterday something that I forgot to check out in the manual. On the left side of the carb, there is a white plastic hose barb up at the top of the carb housing. Any idea what this is for? There was no hose on mine. I'm going to feel pretty stupid if this is the fuel line and I popped it off while monkeying around with the tank yesterday. Have a field day if this is the case :-).
