The silver used on the late model year frames, and even on the tank (for limited touch-up only -- large areas would look weird without a clearcoat) is a very close match to the Dupli-Color High Performance Wheel Paint silver color. This color has a little more texture/sparkle than the OEM frame paint and a little less than the silver used on some years' tanks under the clearcoat but it is usually "close enough" to both.

Quite by accident, I stumbled upon touch-up paint for the red used on the 09' KLR650.
I  had the seat off Monday and saw where the seat covering staples had worn a spot on the backside of the fuel tank.
Not wanting it to rust, I grabbed a bottle of Dupli-Color # TY 01560 "Super red II 3E5 Toyota" Scratch Fix 2in1 paint.
It's a near perfect match!

#ygrps-yiv-567542128 p {margin:0;}With every scratch, ding or rub my '09 KLR is slowly turning "Bedliner Black". I get a lot of compliments on that finish.  I've removed all the decals and the fenders, hand guards and side panels are all bedliner.  I've gotten several people ask me if it's a Ducati. :) -Jeff Khoury

Jeff, what brand of bed liner are you using?  Any trouble with adhering properly? Mike H.

I use the DupliColor brand. Funny you should mention adhesion. I just sent an email on surface prep.  -Jeff Khoury

Also, as a side-note: if you want to use bedliner on your plastics, surface prep is CRITICAL if you want it to stick.  1.  Sand every bit of every surface with an orbital sander and 220 grit.  2.  Wipe with alcohol.  3.  Fill any deep scratches with Bondo.  4.  Feather and smooth 5.  Spray.  If you do this, it sticks like crazy. It is flexible and vastly tougher than polypropylene.  -Jeff Khoury
