loud pipes

Post by Red Rock » Tue Mar 15, 2011 2:20 pm

This attitude that loud pipes don't affect me so I don't really care nonsense really amuses me. I'm almost 63 so most of my riding years are behind me, but There are way more non bikers than bikers. The people that get real upset about loud bikes do not know the difference between a Harley or a KLR and don't care. They will eventally pressure politicians to pass laws. Politicians will do what ever they have to to get reelected, regardless of the concequences. They will not pass a law about loud pipes, they will pass a law about motorcycles. Can't happen ? It already is happening in Germany and a few European Countries. Certain road and towns are off limits to bikes, ALL BIKES. Can't happen in the US, the land of the free you say. If I tried to tell you 2 years ago that you would not be allowed on a plane until someone felt up your crotch, or a 65 year old woman that had a mastectomy would have to remove her bra before before being allowed on a plane you would have called me crazy. If bikers don't start to police there own, believe me, some one else will, and it won't be pretty. When you young guys that don't care now are my age you will be bringing your grandchildren to the museum to show them a motorcycle, just like the one that grandpa used to ride. Anybody know where to find instructions for physically mounting the horn on the bike (1999)? Amazon has a "plug and play" wiring kit, has anybody used it? Thanks for any info. I hear the "Loud Pipes Save Lives" comments in almost all my classes. Best rational I have heard from a fellow coach is; if loud pipes save lives and you want to keep your family as safe as possible, then take the muffler off the family car...
