On a 2009, where do you drill the hole for the torsion spring ? At 5h30 or 7 oclock ? I have 2 instruction sheets and they differ.

7:00 made it REAL tight on my '06. While you got it on the drill press (you are using a drill press?) I think you could drill two holes. try for 6:30 and 5:30. I wish I had. After 45 minutes I finally got the spring on there. Use the 5:30 hole if it's too tight on the 6:30 hole. 6:00 exactly puts you drilling into the "web" i think and you dont want that, but as close as you can get. Be sure to clean all metal chips off after drilling !!

I've done several doohickeys for people over the years and I've used the 'tight' hole but there was more tension on some versus the others. Technique #1: (Per Instructions) Install the torsion spring in the tight hole, then put the doohickey on the shaft, then used heavy long nose pliers to pull the 'hook' around the doohickey until you can get it in the slot. Check to make sure you haven't allowed a coil of the spring to get under the doohickey and it isn't flush with the shaft. Technique #2: (Per YOE - years of experience) Use a Dremel (or Harbor Freight equivalent) to bevel on the outside edge of the doohickey's base. This is hard metal, so it won't allow you to get too agressive but you need some bevel. Install the torsion spring in the tight hole and then put the spring's hook in the doohickey slot. Block the shaft from moving (block the old tension spring attachment point to allow the doohickey to drop on at the point of least torsion on the spring) and then wind the doohickey / spring combo until it slides on the shaft. The bevel is important now because a coil or two of the spring will be under the doohickey and not allow a flush fit. You can gently tap the doohickey down the shaft while pushing left / right on the coils and the bevel will align the coils out and around the doohickey's base to their proper placement. The doohickey will be flush at that point. Don R100, A6F (x2)

Old A&P mechanic trick. Shop vac and neck down the hose to a piece of 3/4 clear plastic tubing by stuffing some rags around where they meet. Duct tape the end of the tubing next to where you are drilling and turn on the vac before drilling. If you have the end in the right place all drilling chips will get sucked into the vacuum. Means no chips get missed and no chips to clean up.
