Jerkin you around? Interesting. Did you call Fred to find out what may be going on? I was in the shop this weekend and neither Fred nor Happy Trails has any doos because the manufacturer is trying to catch up on orders. Plan ahead and you'll see great results. I'm waiting on 2 new EBC rotors. I waited past the spring rush and now I'll have to wait. They will come. Your doo will come also but be patient and don't blame distributors when suppliers can't supply.

I haven't posted anything for quite a while, but I thought I would share my doohickey story. I bought a new leftover 2003 KLR650 in 2005. I broke the bike in by the book, changed oil more often than most people would deem neccessary, and my bike has never seen redline. As a matter of fact, it has only been over 6,000 rpms twice. It now has 8,200 miles on it. With all the hype about the doohickey, I decided to order the whole kit from Fred, and upgrade mine just for the peace of mind. It rained all day last Saturday, so I decided it was time to git er done. My bike has had an easy life, and I honestly expected everything to be intact. When I got inside I found that one end (forward end) of the spring was gone, and the spring was laying there doing nothing. I probed for almost an hour with a telescopic magnet. I did not find the end of the spring. I just called Fred and ordered the right side components need to get to the screen. I will tear it apart this weekend, clean the screen, and HOPEFULLY find that little intruder. The moral of this little story. I don't care if your KLR is brand new, and fresh off the dealer floor. Change that piece of crap doohickey, and spring as fast as you can. One or the other can break now matter how you treat your bike. I second that. My spring was broken after 1,900 miles. I found it in the oil strainer under the clutch (right) cover. I bet you $10 it's there. vlado

I am trying to finish my doohickey. I did one in 2002 and had no problems. This one has become a nightmare. I have another question on starter gear behind the rotor. There are two washers one is thicker than the other. Which one goes behind the starter gear and which one goes behind the rotor. Thanks again TC

OOPS! There are *two* identical "spacers" behind the starter-clutch-gear and *one* "washer"(32.2x50x1.0 mm) between the alternator rotor and the s-c-g per the Kawasaki parts catalog at http://www.kawasaki.com/ . Fred
