Check the FAQ. My local dealers sell the HiFlo Filtro part # HF123 for something like $3 apiece. I've taken one apart and it doesn't seem any different from any of the other aftermarket filters. You might want to check with your own local dealers and see what they've got. -E> > I need to know if anyone has any alternative oil filter #'s for KLR 650? > > Fram? Lee? etc

2 filters that I have used besides the Kawasaki model from the dealer are
the EMGO 10-300000 and the Hastings LF582. I prefer the Hastings filter
over the Kawa and the EMGO simply because the rubber grommets fit better
around the tube in the center of the filter. Maybe I'm being overly fussy,
but I figure the filter will do a better job of filtering in the oil doesn't
get to sneak past the bypass tube and the grommets.
I pay 3 bucks for the EMGO filter at a Kawasaki ATV dealer, 9 bucks for the
Kawasaki filter, and I think about 10.50 for the Hastings filter.

GAH!!!
I wanted to change the oil last night and it was a pain to find a filter for
the KLR.
I went to Walmart, then AUtoZone, the Kragen and finally Advance Auto.
It turns out that Advance stocks the filter too. The other ones wanted 4
days to order one!
The price was decent too. The local shop wants $10 for a filter, any
mail-order place wants 5-8 bucks PLUS shipping, so about $10 there too, plus
a few days to get it.
Advance Auto was $6 and change including taxes etc.
Nice.
