thought on filters

Post by ron criswell » Fri Jul 23, 2010 6:45 am

Rev, I was in the middle of the pack in about 30 riders riding the fire roads of southeast Oklahoma once. And I didn't have goggles using a fullface helmet with the visor flipped up most of the time. I did have sun glasses on but it took days to get my eyes back to normal. So ,,,,,,I bought a dirtbike helmet with goggles and went on my next ride in the Big bend area of TX. Terribly windy weekend and about 3/4 of the ride was on paved roads at 70 / 80 mph. Nothing like a dirtbike visor trying to rip your neck off all day because of the wind. I think I'm going to go to basket weaving for a hobby. Criswell Sent from my iPhone

Never thought of actually cleaning one on the road. Shane- Sounds like your ride alone, and not where there is much dust. You ever been #5 rider on 2000miles of gravel? or even on a 100 mile ride? You will suck a lot of dust. Even #2 will suck a lot of extra dirt. On a long ride, you will change filters every other day--if not more. Happy is he that is the #1/guide. Only #1 has the cleanest filter. and the whitest teeth. revmaaatin.

Fred, I never thought it would happen but I disagree with you. On road or off the HD tubes have a huge advantage. It is less likely that a fat fingered fool like me will pinch them going in! :-)
