The fastest I *want* to go on my KLR is 80mph. It is starting to get a bit skittish at that point. I assume it would go a little faster, but you'll not get me to try, it's just too lightweight a bike with too bad of aerodynamics to be comfortable at those speeds. -E> > what top speed are you guys getting?

Dunno about top speed for a KLR, but back in my USAF days a training NCO of my acquaintance told me of a Honda, something like a 305 Dream, going 400+ mph. An AF general was being transferred from a base in the central US to an air base in California and all of his household goods were properly crated and shipped via normal channels. There was some SNAFU regarding shipping of his pet motorcycle, so he just ordered up a 'training mission' for a C-141 flight to his new air base. My NCO friend was on the flightline in California when the Starlifter rolled to a stop and the general rode his little Honda out of the back of the plane and headed across the base to his quarters. It was the only cargo.

Mine is one of the very fast Red 04's, haven't checked the GPS top speed but I have noticed that it is fast enough this year that it has started to blow a little bit of the red off the ridges of the front fender...
...have a great evening.....Greg

Once I had my 06 at 95 mph on a gps. I was following a friend on
KTM950 who was doing 115. After hitting top speed we slowed down and
just over the hill was a smoky.

Downhill WITH a tailwind (on a closed course and a professional rider, OF COURSE!!!) I saw
170 kph (105.4 mph) INDICATED, so based on a 7% error - 158 kph or 98 mph. Only did it
once though - normally I 'putter along' at about 90 to 100 kph which returns around 26
kms/L or 58 MPG US.
Cheers,
Ed

The Honda Transalp has a listed top speed of 105mph. The Moto Guzzi 750
Breva has a listed top speed of 110mph. OK since the most I've gotten out of
my klr at this altitude is maybe 95, those bikes would have just the extra
power I need. But wait !! The klr listed top speed is 108mph. There have
been discussion here on this topic. I don't remember anyone going over
100mph except down hill. Are the Transalp and Breva top speeds ridiculous as
well ?
