Hello Chuck,   I don't stock but can get you these windshields.  Zero Gravity is a good company that makes lots of different windshields for lots of different bikes.  They have been around a while and I would trust that they make good products.   You can always cut your windshield shorter but it is very hard to cut your windshield longer.  Looking through a tinted windshield is more risky riding after dark.  Tinted windshields may look more "cool" but I think the function of them is more limiting.  Everybody has their own riding style and preferences.  What works for me more than likely won't work for you.
So, naturally, I am thinking of taller windshields.    Share this again: I went through 2 Clearview shields (tall) and after 5k-10k miles (?) ended up hating them. Heard that the Rifles perform about the same. They wobbled with the wind and produced horrible turbulence; they both ended up breaking, far from home ( Mexico) of course. Even tried them with the Saeng snake oil edging. My solution; A Slipstreamer CF30 handle bar shield used with the stock faring and shield. It's a little close to the face for some but doesn't bother me. Quiet, bug free (almost) ride. Comes off/on in 2/3 minutes when you want to go off road. Handling rock solid at all speeds. I cruise at 85 mph - - in complete comfort. I've done many 500+ mile days. Bogdan http://www.slipstreamer.com/Product/Universal/universal.html

#ygrps-yiv-1363140058 p {margin:0;}A friend of mine has tried various combinations and the two he recommends for the least amount of buffeting are: The Afrika Single and: The Kawi factory extended windshield with the "Laminar Lip" installed. http://www.laminarlip.com/klr650.php -Jeff Khoury

I haven't tried this on my KLR, but 400,000 miles on other bikes behind all manner of fairings tells me that it is the only method short of grafting on a big Gold Wing fairing and screen that can be relied on to get your head out of the zone of turbulence. The stock screen (and any screen mounted in the stock position) sits just far enough forward to put your head right in the middle of the eddies that spill off the screen. Raising the screen may help some, as will moving your head forward, but a KLR windscreen can only be so wide. If it were big enough to be quiet, you would not be able to stand the way it looked. Put the screen right in front of your nose, and the turbulence will still be there, but it will be happening behind your head. The tall factory screen took some wind blast off my chest, but it was a poor trade-off for the increase in noise over the stock screen. Quietest set-up short of a handlebar screen is no screen at all. My Shoei helmets in particular are nice and quiet in the clean stream of air.

Rick - enjoy your new scrambler. It would seem to be what you're looking for based on better highway legs. Not sure about the tire choice for it but they'll work OK and can be changed if you don't like them. Suspension off road will be one of the biggest changes. I'm a big Triumph fan and think the company makes some great bikes. Some of the postings on ADV are outstanding threads and could be classified as mini novels. Also agree with you about all the help and guidance offered through these forums. In the old days if ya didn't have the knowledge or understanding about something finding answers took forever if you could even find them. The KLR community is a great one and will be here for a long time to come. Best of luck to you and your new bike!

I know I will miss it and kick myself for selling it, but I can only have one bike at a time. > > I have ordered a new Triumph Scrambler 900. I have never seen one of these yet either, but have done considerable research on a bike that has intrigued me for many years. It was time for a change and I wanted something a little more modern and highway oriented. I'll have it kitted out with TKC80s, skid plate, hand guards, better shocks etc so I can still ride the logging roads around here that I like so much. > > Enough about the Scrambler. I just want to say thanks for all the help and advice I've received from you guys over the years. I still remember when a guy from Texas sent me a replacement starter for my bike before he received my money order. This forum isn't as fancy as some of the others, but you can always count on good advice here. > > On another note, a fellow KLR rider who has driven his bike from Montreal to British Columbia and now is down in South America is looking for a bit of info regarding the steering head bearings. He needs the bearing numbers and info on what other brands he might be able to use in place of the OEM parts. "Antontrax" has posted a very popular ride report on the ADV rider site and it is his photography that is a real treat. I've had very good response from combining the Kawi +4 (Tall) windscreen and the Laminar Lip. The stock screen, as everyone else indicated, was terrible on the highway, especially (lots of buffeting). I tried the tall windscreen and also, as others said, it moved the buffeting up to my face shield (not good). I added the Laminar Lip (http://www.laminarlip.com/klr650.php). The design of the lip causes the airflow to go up and curve over my head (I'm 6' 1" tall) giving me virtually no buffeting or major turbulence during any ride. Been riding with this now over 10,000 miles, street & Highway, and the installation has held up very well (speeds up to 80mph). ~ Highly recommended option to consider and worth the investment ($99 for Kawi +4, $84 (+S/H) for Laminar Lip)
