TK, I have been reticent to L-Mod as I have been concerned about water intrusion during deep water crossings. Now, having said that, I avoid deep water crossings like old cowboys avoid baths, but occasionally, even they get more water then they intended. How does the L-Mod affect/protect the bike from water intrusion; your thoughts/data on the L-mod in realtionship to standing stream water as well as heavy rains. I have a tendency to get rained on often and don't want to loose watertight integrity. revmaaatin.> > Rev > > Do the L-Mod at the top of the box, with the seat over it the sound is barely noticeable > > TK. >

That's pretty representative of what it sounds like. I did the mod too and mine sounds very similar. Nice lower tone, but not obnoxiously loud. Honestly, when I'm travelling highway speeds, I really don't hear it that much unless I focus on it.
I went with the end piece from HMF. Easy to install without having to find someone to weld.

#ygrps-yiv-1726136752 p {margin:0;}I will try to take some audio of it under load on my way home tonight, so you can hear it under a variety of conditions. I think I'll put my iPhone in my jacket pocket with the mic sticking out. It should be able to record it fairly well.... hopefully the phone won't fall out on the freeway!

Attachments :#ygrps-yiv-1418827311 p {margin:0;}OK. The audio of my entire ride home.
It was raining, so you'll hear lots of splashing etc.
The wind screen I fashioned worked ok except at full freeway speed.
The route:
From UCLA parking structure 8, west on Strathmore.
Left on Veteran Ave (a quick salute to our fallen veterans as I pass LA National Cemetery)
Right on Wilshire Blvd
Merge on to 405 South (6:40)
70-75MPH until I hit traffic from an accident, then lane split for a couple of minutes (8:50)
Past the accident and slowly back to freeway speeds (10:45)
Exit the freeway (13:50)
City streets to the gas station.
The honk at 15:03 is me getting "cut off" by a woman in a Mercedes on her cell phone.

Rev
The L-mod is only about an inch lower on the top of the box and it is in the secondary portion of the box so the chance of water getting in are remote. Of course there is the total submersion scenario, but water would get in anyway at that point. I've gone through crossings as deep as the carb itself and had no problems.

Any problem with thee screws working their way out form the vibration. I like the product, just don't want to loose it on the road.
