When removing the smog equip from my a-15 I capped both lines coming out of the tank. The mod post I read said the blue line was supposed to vent to the atmosphere. Is this necessary? All of the sudden I'm getting symptoms of fuel starvation and wondering if this is a cause. Could be just a clogged fuel filter, will replace that tomorrow, but curious on the capping. Look here for specifics: http://www.ravenshadow.com/klr650/mods/CA-smog/CA-smog_Equipment_Elimination.html This seems to work well for everyone who has done it... Rev. Chuck :^)>+ --- "Mark Cheramy" wrote:

Uncapping the blue is the normal thing to do. Also, if you look at the fuel tank parts diagram on buykawasaki.com, there's a tiny grommet (92093) that appears to seal up the little vent system adjacent to the gas cap. Notice that this is a CA-only part. I de-californicated my ZR-7 and had the same problems. The ZR-7 tank already has too many stalactites dangling off the bottom, so I yanked the grommet instead of providing a blue-line drain. You may be able to do something similar on the KLR. RM

I did exactly the same thing to my KLR. You just have to be careful that you do not fill your fuel tank all the way to the top of the filler neck as fuel will come out of the vent hole when you stop quickly or lean the bike on the side stand. I kept the little gromet just in case I ever decide to open the blue line.

Mine never had one in it, and it's been over plenty. Not a drop of gas dripped out, even with a full tank. Now the battery on the other hand..... millerized
