I am considering a new KLR and local dealer says there is 100$ difference between 04-05, also they will lower it 2" for 200$, is this reasonable, and what, if any is the difference between 04 and 05, Thanks in advance

Go to http://www.bigcee.com/klr650faq.html and check out the model differences. No mechanical change since 1996. The price on lowering is fine *if* they are putting in proper lowering links or rebuilding the rear shock. If they are simply raising up the forks to 'lower' it, run away, they haven't got a clue in the world. -- ___ ______ _____ __ ________ ___ / _ |< < / == / ___/__ / /_ /_ __/ / __ ____ _ ___ /__ \ / __ |/ // / ****/ (_ / _ \/ __/ / / / _ \/ // / ' \/ _ \ /__/ /_/ |_/_//_/ == \___/\___/\__/ /_/ /_//_/\_,_/_/_/_/ .__/ (_) 8600 miles*Russel Lines*Supertrapp Race* /_/ http://www.kingsqueak.org/klr650/

I apologize if my last response was harsh... I misread your note and thought it said 100%... not $100. No changes other than BNG.. Still a good bike!! And still the offer is there on lowering the bike with our help. I ride mine lowered about 1.5" and like it, but it's not everyone's cup-o-tea... If I were headed for Baja or Moab, I'd go back to stock and add a good bash-plate. Ron in MN A16 (still)

It's listed under my "New Products". Gorm has modestly reported the torque when the "actual" Dyno results show 128.1 ft. lbs. torque. http://www.angelfire.com/ut/moab/hipercharger.html Fred http://www.arrowheadmotorsports.com http://www.angelfire.com/ut/moab/cmc.html

Now I see the problem......The green paint addes 50+ HP and 80+ FP's of torque; my bike is red. Go Green! Go State!!!!!

It will also clear more vertical anomolies than I care for, and when landing, softly engage the earth like a meteor. Dang, I love this bike, even if I cough up blood every once in a while. Just kidding! (haha) The little KLR in my garage is more fun than a free strip bar! Michael T 02 KLR650 A16 85 Venture Royale AMA222213 lasvegasrider@...

I wonder if (hope) they will put the motor from the new Ninja 650 into an adventure tourer. I was in Europe in October and really liked the looks of the KLE 500- I thought that it and a DR400 would make an excellent replacement for the KLR- of course they don't sell the KLE500 here. I am kind of half heartedly considering a 650 V Strom (not rushing into anything though), and a KLE 650 that is just a little more dirt worthy than the V Strom would be just the ticket. Let's get/keep that rumor mill rolling. (G). Barry Spice COG 3620 AMA 425629 99 Kawasaki Concours- "The Purple Meanie" 55+k 92 Kawasaki KLR 650, rebuilt and revived Catonsville, Md

That would be cool, but I fear the result would end up being much more like a VStrom 650 clone than a lightweight dual sport. Why? Because the dual sport market is tiny and the market for TDM type bikes in Europe is large. Tony
