Hi Listers, I recently sold my KLR650 and the new owner didn't need the shop manuals. I have both manuals (basic and supplement for the KLR650) in perfect condition. I paid $60 for the pair and will sell them for $40. Please contact with questions or comments. Thanks, Jim

Is the service manual for a KLR 600 one of the manuals needed for a new 650?

Hi - Do I really need the KLR600 service manual, (the first one) to have a complete picture of my 2003? Also I see that the manuals listed as 2004 only has suppliments up to 2002. Does anyone have the 2004 manual with 2003 2004 suppliments? Thanks Kirk

yep, my two manuals are behind me on the other desk. I flipped through them and there are a lot of * indicating look at the base manual. I don't have the Clymer but that might be a good choice. Really though, there is enough info from listers websites to get most anything done. --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "klr_klr650" wrote:

The latest Supplement Manual includes the '87 - '04 models. There have been no changes to the KLR650 since 1996 so any of the later supplement manuals should all be the same up to and including the '05 KLR. Fred http://www.arrowheadmotorsports.com http://www.angelfire.com/ut/moab/cmc.html

Yes. It is the only one of the three manuals (KLR600, KLR650 supplement, and Clymer) to have the torque value table for misc. fasteners in it near the front. Don't know what the bolts for the oil filter cover are supposed to be torqued to? Can't find that value in the Clymer? Do a quick measure of the bolt size ("oh, that's a 5mm thread!"), look in the misc. fasteners table, and say "Oh! I'm supposed to torque those to about 40 inch-pounds!". (Note: Values for illustrative use only. See the manual, not me).

The only difference since the 2002 model KLR has been paint. Don't worry about it. The last time Kawasaki made any real change to the KLR was back in '96, if I'm remembering right. Since then, they've just been stamping them out with misc. paint changes, and that's it. -E
