petcock question
If its possible, and someone would like to help me out, could someone
go suck on the vacuum hose for the petcock and let me know if it
"leaks/vents" down, thru the atmosphere vent drillway in the plastic
block between diaphrams. or if it just straight out holds vacuum?
I had to drain the tank roadside and found I had to continually draw
vacuum to maintain fuel flow. Which left me quite dizzy, because of
course this all transpired right after filling the tank.
This has me wondering about some runability issues I have with my KLR
thank you in advance

It should not leak down. If it does the diaphragm is bad.

petcock question
Sounds like your petcock is working as designed: engine needs to be
running to produce the vacuum in the carb that is transmitted through
the vacuum line up to the petcock to 'say' it is OK to let gasoline out
of the tank to feed the carb. Otherwise, you have to shut the petcock
when parked so the gasoline doesn't flood the engine.

petcock question
The vacuum should hold on the petcock side if all the
connections are tight and the petcock diaphragm is good.
When the engine's off the vacuum should bleed out from
the carb side, not through the petcock. Otherwise it would
be like a vacuum leak- although it couldn't be very large if
you managed to pull it open by mouth suction-

transalp comparasion to klr
Hey Transalp,
I am thinking of adding another bike in the future, while keeping my KLR. If you have owned both the KLR and Transalp...how would you compare the two. I am thinking of the Transalp for more regular rides from California to Texas.

petcock question
Is your stock petcock leaking or is it missing? If you need a rebuild kit for your petcock, I sell those or I can get you the complete OEM petcock from Kawasaki. What seems to be the problem with yours?
