Personally I didn't care for the commie remark, or the way Fred came to your defense about it. Calling names is breaking a rule. Obviously it isn't what you say that matters. It is whether Fred knows you or not. My explaination of what Stu was trying to do was for the benefit of those of you that are new to this list. To prevent anyone taking him seriously was what I was after. I guess I failed. Sorry you were offended by his remarks. "Fishing" on this list is never a good idea. It isn't against list rules but calling out a list member is getting close to "no personal attacks".
Stu has been a member of this list for a long time. This isn't the first time an incedent like this has happened and I was only trying to prevent any ruffled feathers. Stu's "commie" remark should have been taken with the same grain of salt as the rest of his comment. If you have thin skin, this list might not be the best place for you.

Classy post, Rick. That seems to reflect the sentiments of an ignorant, un-American racist. I mean, President Obama is our President, whether or not one voted for him. Maybe you should take your own inventory rather than pointing fingers? Have a nice day Thanks CA Stu> > And no, I didn't vote for the Black Muslim

Fred, I apologize. I certainly didn't think anyone could construe "commie" as an insult, and I screwed up, I thought one or two people wouldn't get it, I had no idea what a train wreck that post was going to cause.
I mean, does anyone in their right mind think someone would bend a piece of straight pipe and put a Pep Boys tip on it? LOL
Thanks

None of the words you mention below are mine, except the comment that we have a black muslim in the White house.
I never once called anyone any names. I do not know who called you those names, but it would also have been wrong to do.
The office of the president should be respected, but I have no respect for the man that fills that position at this time. I fear he is going to be the downfall of this grand country. I pray he proves me wrong.

I've rather enjoyed this whole episode. This list has been very
quiet over the past year or so. Once upon a time I'd get 100
or more emails a day, now it's sometimes only 10 to 20 or so.
The pot needs stirred sometimes. I kept politics completely out
of my messages, and enjoyed being the pretend fish on the hook.
Us podunks here in the east aren't as dumb as we look.
Hmmm... lemme rethink that last sentence ........

I thought it was great fun. I did not think for one moment that Stu was serious and was silently chuckling at the responses.

Just curious - not taking sides here.... But I am trying to see why
this NKLR issue has some upset......
Isn't he black? I believe he calls himself black in his book. He
certainly appears so on TV and in photos. Is it wrong to call him
black if he calls himself black? He calls white people "white
people". I've heard him do it myself.... it's in his book, too.
Calling a black man a "black man" is not a bigoted statement last I
checked. Bigots usually use other, less socially acceptable "terms"
or "slurs".
As far as being muslim, I've seen where he has admitted to that at one
time, too. No, it certainly isn't played on the news every night, but
HE said it himself.... If he can say it, why can't anyone else?
Maybe he isn't muslim anymore, but he once claimed the title for
himself..... Is the word muslim a bigot's term?
What is the problem with stating something that a person apparently
has claimed himself?
As I said, just curious..... It seems that there us an awful lot of
heat being given for stating something that happens to be, apparently,
factual.
Unless, of course, people think there is something wrong with being a
black, a muslim, or both. In which case the offended person may have
more issues than those that make such statements.
In other words, to make a long post short, just how is this offensive,
unless one CHOOSES to be offended?

I'm not a troll, nor did I make it up. He DID claim to be muslim when
he was younger; then later claimed that he became disillusioned with
Islam. Yes, he did.
I believe now he claims to be Christian. Regardless, who cares? I
certainly don't care if he worships rocks and sticks, or my Ebony 2009
KLR; he still sucks as a president. So have the last several
presidents, regardless of color or political affiliation.
But, I didn't want to get into his politics.... I'm on other lists
for that. This is a KLR list.
However, it is funny how people are just begging to be offended by
a non-offensive statement.

What's the fuss over black muslin in the White House?
Muslin is a nice, finely woven fabric and coloring it
black does not seem so bad to me.
Sure, the most common muslin color is white, but
through the ages, muslin has come in many colors!
Maybe they wanted dark curtains to set the mood in the
room, and chose black muslin as the theme. Black
muslin curtains sound tasteful to me, given the right
overall room decor.
Let's not discriminate against muslin of any color.
Some might even prefer theirs in Kawasaki Green!
