intermittent misfires

I have a '96 KLR that had faded to light blue. Found some new red parts off ebay, got the whole set for a bit over $400 bucks. Boy, it looked great for a few years but has started turning pink. Has anyone come up with a way to bring back the color on the plastic? Thanks, Tony

Lately I've been reading here a few comments about faded plastics. I just got my 2009 a month ago. It is garage kept. Should I be waxing it with SPF50 when I take it out? LOL! Are you victims of plastic fading leaving them outside all the time? Or are the plastics just prone to fading no matter what, just with age? I realize that they have to be ridden, and therefore they are going to be exposed to the sun. But, it seems odd that fading should be this much of am issue with today's plastics technology - I can't remember the last time I had a car that the interior was faded in. Seemed like an 80s thing........ today's plastics are so much better than at one time. Anyway, I was thinking that prevention may be better than trying to cure the problem. Is there a way to do that, short of keeping it covered 24/7? I bought it to ride, not to hide...... Just curious........... Chuck F. NE PA

Lemon Pledge furniture wax (no Shit) .... but I just said to heck with it and painted mine with black bedliner paint from Walmart. I sprayed the metal tank with auto paint. Criswell

Lemon Pledge for prevention. After they've faded you can take a hair dryer or a heat gun and gently heat the surface. This will restore the surface fairly well. After they've gone too far for that, I use the DupliColor bedliner spray. I love how it looks. -Jeff Khoury Astatic Solutions, LLC.
