What would a reasonable offer be for an '88 KLR650 with weather accumulation that would need a battery and declogging of the carb to run, and new tires, tubes, etc., to run on the road? Sixty mpg, never failed to start, with plenty of oomph before it got parked.

I know. He and another friend who went with us to Copper Canyon are both Iron butt riders. The other guy did 20.000 in one month on a Soft Tail Harley.Obviously, they are both retired and love to ride. I have done one day on my Connie at 989 miles and quite a few750 mile days on my Klrbut to do it day after day. But those guys love to ride and the windier the road the better. I don't like to ride when it is dark because of various safety reasons but I guess some are OK with it. Criswell Sent from my iPhone

Reasonable for who? How long was it parked? How many miles? What area? Best way to tell is search for KLR 650 on ebay and watch for a week or two how much they are going for in your area

That's just a wild guess. If you are the seller maybe start at $1,300 and let folks talk you down. If you are the buyer and aren't friends with the seller maybe start at $500 and let them talk it up a bit. A non running bike isn't worth much in my estimation other than parts. Once it's running it's worth considerably more. A weathered bike shows a lack of maintenance/care. Rust and faded plastic will be there a long time probably. If a cylinder got rusted during storage it will get expensive pretty quickly.
