valves check max or min clearence ?
just doing my valve check and need to change shims.
slappy is happy right?

valves check max or min clearence ?
Ticking valves aren't burning. Quiet valves are like quiet (but still
awake) 3 year olds: They are up to no good.

All right, now I am confused. If the engine spec has a minimum and a maximum
why would you go for anything but the exact middle?

valves check max or min clearence ?
As the valves face/head wears, the valve stem protrudes more, causing the gap to get smaller. If you are already adjusting the valves, maximum gap will give longer intervals between adjustments. That being said, If the valves are within spec., I would not adjust them just to get to maximum allowed gap. I only adjust when they are out of spec., and then to maximum gap.

As the valves bang into the valve seats, they recess in and tighten the clearances up. Best to set them a little loose within the
spec range.
