You must not do burn outs or roosting.

Rick,
On the AK trip I figure we rode 1350 miles of broken rock, gravel, dirt and gnarly stuff. Normally I ride whatever shows up in front of me, but I don't go looking for dirt, and I DON'T do single track any more! So - I'm probably 80 to 90% pavement.
I get my 270's for less than $100/ pair from one of the Internet cycle stores. Bike Bandit...?
Cheers,
Ed

Maybe try the MEFO Explorer? Have them on now but little millage but have
read that they are good all around tire and read that some folks were
getting
more miles than the stock tires. They are quite a bit more than then
stock tires
if price is a consideration.

Nothing wrong with that. The idea is to enjoy riding. If your riding in a situation where the hair is standing up on the back of your neck, and your knuckles are white, the fun factor just dropped. I have had some of my best times on an old dirt road, or a secluded country blacktop riding along about 40 to 45 mph. The KLR sure doesn't mind, and you see a lot more detail in the surrounding scenery.
