A little research has provided more info in today's gear quest. Even though I don't remember seeing the 600 after about 1987, apparently Kawasaki sold 'em in the states 'till 1994.
I'm looking for the right side crankshaft 28 tooth primary gear. Part number 13097-1104 or 13097-1139
Or again, an inner clutch hub from a newer KLR650: part number 13087-1164 or 13087-0023. I have had a couple of guys email me offering up their clutch hubs for what I'm sure are very reasonable asking prices. I really do appreciate it fellas, but I'm looking for cheap and the gear will probably be less expensive, maybe even free if someone's got it laying around and doesn't mind shipping it. Depending on $$$, I'll pay to have it shipped next day.
I gotta go see my grandma and the tranny just dropped outta my truck! Any of y'all remember He-Haw?
"Gloom, despair and agony on me... if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all!"
Thanks again,
Mech

2005 klr 650 for sale in so cal $3200
I bought this last summer and a coworker was going to get a dual sport as well, but then he had twins. I've yet to take this on the dirt and don't anticipate doing so anytime soon. It's got new tires geared more towards street riding that are really very smooth on the road, new front and rear sprockets (+1 tooth on the front sprocket), the taller factory windshield, a fresh valve adjustment, fresh oil change, new o-ring chain, relocated license plate and trimmed rear fender, "highway bars"/engine protector (I think the HT version, not sure, they came with the bike), custom paint over the faded red plastics, UFO handguards, UFO KTM style supermoto front fender, new dual compound grips and a Corbin dished seat that is veeeerrry comfortable.
Also has the Kawasaki rear tailbag. Has just over 9,000 miles on it and freshly renewed registration (good till 7/2010). The stock muffler has the "tweety" sound. I've got the recommended John Deere replacement, and can install if you want, but they don't have a forest service approved spark arrester, so I'll leave that up to you. License plate has LED bolts for the light.
Rides great/straight and true, runs strong. I use it on a 18 mile commute, and that's about it. I have done the doohickey replacement with the Eagle replacement kit and the torsion spring. At this price I'll include a Garmin Legend C GPS with topo maps disc. It's a small handheld with color screen and a suction mount.
I'm looking to get a Bonneville so I'm motivated to sell this.

need crankshaft 28t primary gear for klr600 clutch basket
Say Y'all,
I got quite a few responses & offers & want to express my appreciation to the group for helping out. I've got a very reasonably priced inner clutch hub on the way, which will allow me to rebuild the right side with the same parts it was made with in 2006. I also have an old school 28T spur gear on the way if I ever need to utilize the KLR600 clutch basket. I'm still searching for a left side crankshaft bearing race. If anyone has cased their engine on a jump or otherwise distorted or trashed their case and can part with the bearing race, I need it.

I'm surprised you have pulled your thumb out of your bum long enough to stop sucking it, let alone text people with your tweets... you dumb little twit. You know who you are, well, maybe.
For the rest of you like me, who understand how to form words and have probably on several occasions throughout your life stopped to render aide or assistance to complete strangers without expecting compensation or thanks but appreciated the gesture... this post of sincere appreciation is for you.
