Hello and Merry Christmas to all of you. I am looking at buying the wolfman rear bag and duffel and maybe the tank panniers I already have the explorer. I didn't know If any of you have and remarks about these bags, or if you would recommend different luggage. Thanks in advance. Matt [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I have the Wolfman rear bag and the duffel and can recommend them highly. They have been through several heavy rain showers and although some moisture got in during heavy rain I have spent the long winternights Win wax on all the seams and surfaces of the bags, so I expect that problem to be taken care of. Go ahead and get them; You will be glad you did. Gorm L. Matthew Durtsche wrote: Hello and Merry Christmas to all of you. Josh, Ortlieb products are the only waterproof soft saddlebags. Hard bags like Givi and the Happy Trails panniers are typically waterproof as well. I don't know of a waterproof tank bag out there; we have to have a "funny" shape because of the unique shape of our gas tanks, so there's not a lot of choice. Most folks (including myself) seem to like the Wolfman Explorer (or Lite version). It isn't waterproof, but the raincover's pretty good, the bag is built very well, and there's an optional mounting kit specifically for the KLR. -- Blake Sobiloff http://sobiloff.typepad.com/blakeblog/> http://sobiloff.typepad.com/klr_adventure/> San Jose, CA (USA)

I think Aerostich has a waterproof Ortlieb tank bag. never seen it in person and don't know how it fits the KLR. Take a look at the Wolfman Expedition series. I think he has a roll-top tank bag, and Eric knows how to make a tank bag that fits a DS bike.

I use a Wolfman with no rain cover. Spray it with fabric waterproofing and it will help. Great bag. I bought my panniers from walmart. Atv section in automotive. $17. The color fades but what the hell? don' a17

I have the Wolfman Expedition tank bad. It's waterproof and I like it for the most part. There aren't any outside pockets, just one big one inside. Seems to work and keep everything dry though. I think it was about $80.

progressive & lo jack discount worth it ???

Post by eddiebmauri » Thu Jul 09, 2009 8:02 am

I received an e mail from Progressive (my KLR's insurer) to advise that if I install Lo Jack on my KLR, I'll get a $50 discount off the cost of installation, and a 20% discount off my Comp. coverage from Progressive. I pay about $150 yearly for Coll & Comp here in Murder Capital USA New Orleans. So, do any of you use Lo Jack? I have some quesitons. Is Lo Jack worth it? Can the KLR's weak elec. system even power Lo Jack? Also, I purchased through Progressive a "Total Replacement" option on my KLR where if my 03' KLR is a loss, I get a NEW 2009 KLR as a replacement! It seems that I am almost better off with a new KLR than having my old one returned after it was stolen? BTW, my KLR sleeps in a garage, with the steering locked, and chained to a support beam. Anyway, back to Lo Jack . I checked their web site link on the Progressive e mail, and could not find a Jo Jack dealer within 100 miles of New Orleans? What's up with that? So my questions are: 1. About how much does it cost to install Jo Jack on KLR and is it worth it? 2. Does Lo Jack work well with a KLR considering the KLR's elec. System? 3. I guess that I have to do the math between the cost of installation and the amount of discount over time. From a financial point, it might not be a good deal? 4. Do any of you have any opinions on Lo Jack on KLR? 5. After one installs Lo Jack, is there a monthly service fee? Or does the price of installation cover it all? 6. Lastly, I assume that the Lo Jack system can be transferred from one bike to another when one changes bikes? Eddie (03' KLR "la poderosa")
