Can anyone confirm that the front sprocket oil seal is replaceable
WITHOUT splitting the engine cases? I think the answer was in the
old archives.
Thanks,
Rich

front sprocket seal
Rich, I believe you can change the seal without splitting the cases. 95% sure. front sprocket seal
The seal behind the front chain (drive) sprocket has started to leak. This appears be be from wear & tear as the bike has over 54,000 km. I searched the various posts on the best way to change the seal without performing open heart surgery but to no avail.
What is the best way to change the seal? Also where do I get a replacement (ie is kawa the best place or after market)?
2001 KLR, 54,000 km,

I got a set when I bought my 09'.
They are adjustable & should fit any year KLR.
Keep in mind a few things:
1.) they aren't hard bags in the GiVi sense. They are "vinylized" nylon
with a zipper closure. You can squash them with your hands
but will hold their shape when empty.
2.) they can & will lead to side panel scuffing without some sort of
barrier inbetween (semi-adhesive plastic shelf paper,etc...).
3.) They have a recommended load limit of 5 pounds each. Yea, right.
