Rode KLR650 1150 miles in 3 days to Pensacola and back and was wondering way there is so much pain between my shoulder blades and lower part in back of neck. Corbin seat was great it's just when I ride for long peroids of time I get this stabing pain in back. Thanks for any input. Ruben

It probably has to do with your riding position and the amount of tension you are holding (without even knowing it) in your shoulders/head. Could be from the wind buffetting as well if you are still using the stock windscreen. I'd suggest rotating the handlebars a little bit and really trying to focus on staying loose. I have had a similar pain, more like a cramp betwix the shoulder blades on
long rides. I found the if I get my crotch up against the tank and let my
legs dangle free, resting the calves on the engine crankcase or on the
footpegs gave me time to stretch the back and get good relief for quite a
while. I can do this without my shoes dragging on the pavement, of course.
Sometimes I will hook my heels on the passenger pegs for a change of stance.
Stand up now and then helps a small bit as well as twisting the torso from
the waist as far as possible to the L and R.. More frequent stops with some
mild stretching of the legs, shoulder and back seem to help me. 30 minute
brisk walk before or after the day's ride is nice before stretching as a
light warm up.
They say motorcycle riding is 90% mental, until it starts to hurt

Monkey on your back!
Try loosening up a bit. Support your upper body with your torso, not your
hands and arms. Engage your abs. Every so often roll your shoulders and
shake your arms with a focus on feeling loose and releasing any tense
muscles. Loosen your grip on the bars. I find that it is easy for the
tension to creep into the muscles, especially in traffic or on windy days,
but repeating these exercises helps.

Lean forward to get more bend in the arms and relieve the tension. Letting go with the left hand will help to accomplish. I sometimes put some on the tank bag with my left elbow to change things up for a while.

+1 on Home Depot back support, get one that goes on tight from the start,
might seem odd at first until you notce haw much better you feel later. I
usually remove the suspenders. Also I use it when the yard work starts
getting strenuous. You farm boys are in shape from the 'chores' but us urban
weenies gotta suit up for a little hard work
)))

Have neat descriptions of setting the float height on a carb.
Using a clear hose attached to an open drain (explained in link#2) was
pretty cool!
