Make real sure that the flasher unit is not left under the rear fender or it probably won't last long. The amount of water, dirt, oil, and other road debris that accumulates up in the rear fender can really wreak havoc on the wiring back there. Replacement is a current project of mine, while I have the bike apart. I'm not sure where I saw it, but someone is offering a 50 watt tail light and brake light. I'm not sure if it was Dennis Kirk or not. When I get to that point in my project, I'll let you know. Anyone Know where I can get a replacement lens for the tail light?
I'm sure there all the same but its for a 98'.

Looking for some advise on getting my tail/brake light bulb to "lock" in. The push and twist in to lock technique seems to be wore out. Is a total replacement of the taillight assembly required or just the socket? Right now I found the sweet spot for things to work but with a good jolt it will be dislodged.
Would Fred of Ron Ayers be the source??

I would try squeezing the socket together slightly with some pliers at the
notch that holds the bulb. I would also replace the bulb.

Try the bulb 180 from how you're sticking it in. If it's a 2 dot
bulb (2 dots on the bottom, contacts actually) it's a "polarized"
plug. One of the "tits" on the side is higher than the other. If
this isn't the case and you have the correct bulb for the
application, give it a light squeeze with a pair of pliers (the light
socket, not the bulb) and try it again.

Tail light doesn't come on with key. Brake light still works. Tried different bulbs. Also using
rear break doesn't activate brake light I tried adjusting it and still nothing. Is there a
connection midway along this wire somewhere? Thanks BA

Look for a bad ground wire from the bulb socket.

am not sure how many other members the group has in Florida, but I am
excited to post this opportunity. Unfortunately these days there are
all too many scams going around the internet. I am not that active
on the group so I have posted my phone number if anyone would prefer
to call me to discuss. I am not affiliated to Ted Simon in any way
other than I have read his books and am extremely excited at the
chance to meet and chat with the chap...
Check out http://www.jupitalia.com This is the website run by
motorcycle adventure pioneer Ted Simon. Ted has travelled solo (truly
solo!) around the World TWICE. The first time was in 1973 on a
Triumph. During his second trip, in 2000 (this time on a BMW) he
celebrated his 70th birthday. He has published several books
chronicling his adventures. Ted's books were the inspiration for Ewan
McGregor and Charlie Boorman's trip around the World in the TV show
Long Way Round (Ted also appeared in one episode when he met up with
Ewan and Charlie in Mongolia).
Ted recently put together a movie combining cassette tape audio,
videos and pictures from his trips. He presented this in California,
Kentucky and also in Orlando (some of you may have been lucky enough
to attend). Somehow I missed the news about the Orlando show! So
over the last week or so I have been communicating with Ted to
investigate the possibility of him coming back to Florida. I think
this is a great opportunity for those interested in motorcycles and
adventuring, or even those who just love to hear a great tale.
Ted will be going to Europe at the end of April and has made
provisional plans to make a stop in Miami en-route. Because of flight
schedules Ted will need to be in Miami for 5 nights which will prove
costly. I therefore need to get a reasonably firm idea of numbers of
people who would attend. Cost-wise the aim would be for us to share
some of Ted's costs for the stay and maybe buy a few of his books.
The more of us who go the cheaper it would be! So let me know that
you are interested and spread the word among friends, family, and
associates who may have an interest.
Ted has to make his flight plans firm by Sunday so please let me know
by email at simonhpearce@... or phone 727-686-0992 over the
next couple of days.
I'll be contacting various motorcycle groups and organizations but
