I recommend the Marsee 15L Teardrop tank bag. It's made of much heavier material and is narrower, I believe, than the Wolfman. The strap version works great on my KLR, only on rough roads does it begin to slightly tilt. Z DC A5X A12X

I've got the Dual Star and think it's the dog's danglies. It's a bit in the way for serious off-roading but what tank bag isn't? Holds a verfiable $h!tload of crap and has a few external pockets good for quick access things. The raincover with map window is a nice touch but I might try some Camp Dry and go without for the next trip (one less thing to pack). I used it during the Alcan and it held up well to the rigors of an extended trip on pseudo-paved/semi-graded roads. dat brooklyn bum --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "mrmooseisloose" wrote:

Yes, that's the larger (and more expensive) model of the "Tuareg" for the "hulkier" DP bikes. The smaller bag which I bought has essentially the same features (and looks), but in addition it has the zippered small side pockets. You can see on the picture the (removable) sling-over-the-shoulder carrying strap that I forgot to mention. The photo shows the tankbag in its extended form (released by the "spiral" zipper). You can also see (well, almost) the zippered (on the right) map compartment where I am keeping my garage door opener, ear plugs, etc. The lower bag is stiffened to retain its shape in its non-extended mode. It's certainly an alternative to the Wolfman (which would have been my alternate choice) at one third the price. JMT(Euro)CW. Hans in Minneapolis

Since everyone seems to love the Wolfman, thought I would say a word About Marssee. The DualStar was more than I needed. I liked the Wolfman, but was very put off by their habit of advertising it all over the place for $139 but making you pay $159. I haven't hear anyone mention that.... Anyway, I called Marsee and talked to a very nice lady. They sent me a 15l teardrop that I am very happy with. The nice lady stressed that if I didn't like it I could send it right back and that it had a lifetime gaurantee, $110 total including shipping. It fits nicely on the KLR and expands if you need it to. Nice little pockets and staps and stuff. Only thing that I don't like is that the seat covers the lower quick release buckles, so quick removal and converting to a backpack is kind of a mute feature on the KLR. Dan Jones

Did you know that Wolfman has a new and improved model out now? The old model sold for about $130 and the new model is now $155. The difference in price might be because of the different models. The old models should be all sold out by now. Fred http://www.arrowheadmotorsports.com http://www.angelfire.com/ut/moab/cmc.html

I ordered from Wolfman's website and it was listed correctly. Maybe the other sites need to be updated by whoever runs them. http://www.wolfmanluggage.com/03Tank/Explorer.html Marsee looks like some nice stuff too. In fact I have been thinking of getting one of their tank bags for my Triumph. They look like they are more compact when not carrying much, but will expand quite a bit when needed. I have the Marsee as well but I don't have that problem. I run the back strap under the tank and between the carb boot and the frame, then up the sides of the tank. The buckles sit just on either side of the seat's nose, and this mount configuration is a bit more stable than running the straps up from under the seat. Z DC A5X A12X

Hi, I'm new to the KLR 650 group. I was interested in buying a tank bag for my KLR-650. Can anyone give me some suggestions. Thanks, Shelby
