I wanted to change my front brake pads but the brake pad pin does not come
out. I've pulled, tugged, twisted & pried and it won't move. I sprayed all
metal contact points with PB Blaster and repeated the tug pull & twist
routine & still no movement. Any suggestions how to get it out? Heat? Drill
and EZ out? Or give up 7 buy a whole new brake caliper block? (For the want
of a pin the brake was lost...)
2nd I tried finding the archives but just wound up in a yahoo loop .. Click
here... Any help as to how to review the archive will be welcome help too.
Thanks,
Carl

front brake pin & archive help please
The doohickey was certainly a poor design but the little retainer clip
that Kawasaki designed to hold that pin is obviously doing a great job
despite your best very efforts to defeat it!!
There is a small retainer clip on that pin. It's not on the outside
but as I recall just inside the caliper housing. It's been a while
since I had one apart. Until you remove that clip you won't be
taking that pin out. Once you pull the clip the pin will slide right
out.
If you go to the parts diagram at buykawasaki.com you will see what I
mean.
Good luck,
George

Carl,
Look at the bottom of this email and click on "Visit Your Group" (It's on the same line as "Unsubscribe" which people often cannot see.)
That'll bring up a page with a light blue box in the upper left. Click on "Messages" in that box.
Then enter your search term and it'll find the appropriate messages in the archives. Currently there are over 188,000 of them.
Maybe there's another way, but this is how I do it.
HTH,
Mike Martin,
Louisville, KY

Clip Pin, Clymers instructions, Yes I ve been following them exactly. I m
sorry to leave out that info, yes I pulled the retaining pin/clip. The pin
itself will not move! It will not turn/rotate. It s as if it s welding or
red locktighted in place. I m on the verge of cutting it off & trying to
drill it out so I can place a new one there. But for that much time & work I
might as well buy a used one.
Thanks for the suggestions on how to get into the archives but I just keep
getting asked to join the group again and again...
Thanks,
Carl
