I thought Arrowhead used Eagle Mikes doohickey and tools. Am I wrong? Apparently I didn't get the wrench but did I get Eagle Mikes doohickey and spring??? Gary

I'm surprised that you got your tools back from Alba. My son took his KX250 in for a top end "freshening" and included a jet kit to match the new pipe he was putting on. The bike came back with a broken clutch lever, no jet kit and a very large crease in his brand new FMF pipe. The Shop Manager and General Manager both tried to bullshit their way out of their screw up.........he eventually had to take them to small claims court and was awarded a new pipe, new jet kit and, as he discovered, an acid honing of the Nikasil cylinder and a set new rings and gaskets, because he was charged for all of that and didn't get it. My purchase of a new '03 DL1000 was enough to stop me from ever dealing with them again. BTW, I've never had to use anything but a 36" SnackOn 1/2" breaker bar to remove the rotor bolt or rotor on any of the 100 plus change outs I've done over the past 7 years. Mikey's rotor holder, rotor puller, two sturdy sockets and a 1/2" SnackOn torque wrench are the only other tools necessary. Buddy bseifert71@...

It is my belief that you got Eagle Mike's doohickey and spring, possibly his rotor puller bolt (if it is solid, which I'm sure it is, if it's not hollow) but not that aluminum wrench. I believe they sold hollow ones that were recalled. ----- Original Message ---- From: gbthacker_99 To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Sent: Saturday, October 11, 2008 9:38:48 PM Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Re: Dohicky tools I thought Arrowhead used Eagle Mikes doohickey and tools. Fred stopped stocking Eagle Mike's wares, so I'm not sure what you got. Eagle Mike's wrench is steel and rotor remover stout...both likely to outlast the planet. I've heard there are other doo kits, but I've never seen one. Ever since installing my first doo, I insist on genuine Eagle parts. The best! Probably he sent you residual stock. I'd feel confident using/installing what he sent you. Brian

I waited there while he did it, but I wasn't allowed in the shop. The idiot didn't grease the threads either even though I told him twice! I wasn't leaving without my Eagle Mike gift pack. Alba-tross is more like it. They were a disaster repairing my brother's KLR when its OEM doo and spring failed and destroyed the top end. Took several months to get his bike back...promises after delays. They fired the service manager shortly thereafter. I can't believe your story. Wait, yes, I can. Nice win. Brian

attaching kolpin gun case to klr

Post by ilv2wheels » Sun Oct 12, 2008 1:37 pm

It seems hunting season is coming up for the KLR crowd. I had fabbed a beefy aluminum angle mount for my Gunboot4 as well. I did have to buy an entire quick mount set to figure it out, but really all that's needed from Kolpin is the quick mount loop. It currenly has a full size Gunboot, but I may "modify" the case for shorter barreled rifles. There's photos under "hunting klr" in the Photo section. Good luck hunting; we didn't scratch and claw to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables! Tony G. KLR650 A16 Fort Worth, TX

Well I checked and I did, in fact, get the Eagle Mikes doohickey and springs. At least the springs were in the sealed bag with the doohickey that had Eagle Mike's paper in it. Now the puller I got was a Dennis Stubblefield Flywheel puller MP#11. It's a 22mm X 1.5 right hand threas Male. It's hollow down to about 3/4" from the threaded end. Is this the one that is recalled?

When I bought the kit I was under the impression that I was getting Eagel Mike's stuff. The doohickey and springs seem to be E.M. stuff but the puller is from Dennis Stubblefield and the puller seems to be aluminum and very questionable. I was expecting the steel wrench and puller from E.M. --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "traderpro2003" wrote:

I think it is the recalled one. Stubblefield was on mine and it was hollow. I never used it, it was recalled before I did. Again, the wrench is the one I destroyed. db ----- Original Message ---- From: gbthacker_99 To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sunday, October 12, 2008 2:34:19 PM Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Re: Dohicky tools Well I checked and I did, in fact, get the Eagle Mikes doohickey and springs.
