There shouldn't be a difference. There should also be no reason for you to run Premium, unless you have a modified head/piston that creates higher compression. My KLR has gone 270 miles without switching to reserve. I think it has been averaging 50 MPG almost every time I calculate mileage. YMMV, Gustavo>Does it make any difference to the mileage, between Regular >gas and Premium gas ?, if so how much ?

My all time low before hitting reserve is about 160 miles. Flat out, Hwy 15 coming south from Idaho, had to stop for gas in Salt Lake City. Bike is jetted and Big Gunned. My A15 manual says "Use clean, freash unleaded gasoline with a minimum
antiknock index of 87. The antiknock index is posted on service station
pumps in the U.S.A." I've used regular with no noticeable problems, but
usually use premium.

The least I got until reserve was 170 miles, the most 220. This with Stage II and a Big Gun. I have gone 30 miles on reserve, but have never run it dry to find out actual capacity. Stuart> had stopped at the last Gas Station " ??????

One up, no load in town: 220 miles before reserve. Two up, full load, on the road: 220 miles before reserve. I have never gone more than a few miles after that, nor have I performed the KLR LEFT LEAN to slosh the fuel on the right side to the left side so it can be picked up. == Rev. Hey,
Im considering buying a new KLR650 (2001 or 2002) and was wondering a
couple of things.
1 - How many miles could I expect to get out of a KLR before a major
engine overhaul? Use would be mostly a 15 mile trip to and from work ~5
days a week (interstate miles, ~ 70 mph), just a bit of offroad use, and
some touring mostly around Texas in terrain of varying type.
2 - Whats a typical service interval for a KLR650? Most of the
streetbikes I've had required service every 5 - 6k miles, but I've never
owned a dual-sport before. 5-6k miles is about 6 months for me.
Thanks much!

I dont know. My '96 has 51,000 miles on it and aside from valve adjustments the and draining the float bowl, the engine has needed no work whatsoever. There are supposed to be some issues that arise with the counterballancer system and valve seats at about 60k, but I haven't seen anything yet.>Hey, > > Im considering buying a new KLR650 (2001 or 2002) and was wondering a >couple of things. > >1 - How many miles could I expect to get out of a KLR before a major >engine overhaul? About every 6k you have to do the valves. A reasonably simple shim-over-bucket arrangement. -Tom '96 KLR 650>2 - Whats a typical service interval for a KLR650? That's about right; some items require attention at shorter intervals. Good luck with the purchase. Mark B2 A2 A3>2 - Whats a typical service interval for a KLR650?
