My 90 Tengai only has 9k on it and its in excellent shape. Seeing as
though these bikes are relatively rare and there is a high demand for
them among the dualsport community, its an easy sell to the right
buyer.
Are you buying this bike or selling it?
Where are you located?
Is it stock?
Anyways, I would guestimate top dollar around $3000 if its in real
nice shape.

A "good price" depends if you are selling or buying. Totaled out
bikes have gone from $600- $1500, I know a guy bought an 88 for $800,
it was kinda rough. But you don't see many tangi's for sale.
Are you buying? Is there an aking price? What mods has been done?
You need to give some details before anyone could say what a good
price would be.

You definately got a good deal, but I got a better one. I actually felt kinda bad giving the seller the money. You will not be dissapointed with your purchase, I love mine. Check the FAQ's,
www.bigcee.com/klr650faq.html.
Besides the fairings and lower fender, the only difference I know of is
the Tengai's dual-piston front caliper.

I haven't tried it (solvent welding) yet, but will soon.
-stiffer, thicker-walled forks
Didn't know this
-nicer gauges, recessed in fairing rather than mounted on triple clamp
they are nice to look at
-shorter forks and shock make the Tengai 1" to 1 1/2" lower than the KLR
All this time, I thought I was at the same height as all the rest of
you.

I have heard a lot about the chain tensioner going bad. My KLR is making a grinding noise that sounds like a bushing issue in the front sprocket area as I drive. This sound comes and goes with about every chain revolution or so. When the bike is on jacks and I spin the back tire the chain is loose until it gets to the area that it makes the noise and the chain gets tight in that part of the rotation. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
